30,000+ Registered To Vote
More than 30,000 people have registered to vote in Guernsey’s election in April.
That means more people have signed up to vote than they did before the last election in 2012.
The final administrative checks and procedures are still being done, but the the approximate final figures of eligible voters who have registered is 30,320.
Split into districts, the Vale has the most registered voters, while St Peter Port South has the least:
St Sampson’s:- 4,503
St Peter Port North:- 4,059
St Peter Port South:- 3,267
South East:- 4,605
The Registrar General of Electors Mark De Garis says he is pleased:
‘The My Vote, My Voice campaign was launched in September and during the preceding six months our Election Team have worked tirelessly to promote the registration process.
‘We haven’t shied away from seeking to engage with people who have appeared disengaged with politics and the team expended a huge effort through numerous roadshows and other proactive sign-up initiatives.
‘Given those challenges I am pleased with the final total, although I would clearly wish that all 49,500 people eligible to register on the roll had chosen to do so.
‘I would like to publicly thank the team and all those who have supported the campaign.’
