Alderney Guernsey air routes open to tender
The States have launched a tender process for the Alderney air routes, in an attempt to help with Aurigny’s financial losses.
The invitation to tender covers the Alderney-Guernsey and Alderney-Southampton routes, both currently run by Guernsey’s States-owned airline.
Both routes will need to run daily, throughout the year, and the Guernsey route should provide charter flights for patients who need emergency medical evacuation to the island.
It’s thought having one operator working on both routes would be more efficient.
Bidders have eight weeks to respond and the Committee for Economic Development hopes to present its proposal to the States in Febrauary next year.
The chosen service will start operations between the beginning of April and the end of September.
