Alderney’s Election Season Hots Up
Alderney’s Ordinary Election will be held on Saturday the 26th November.
The island will be electing nine States members who will serve the public for the next four years.
Anyone wanting to stand for election must be formally nominated during the week leading up to the 15th November.
Anyone who won’t be in the island on polling day can use a postal or proxy vote. Application forms for both will be available from the office of the Chief Executive. Applications for both postal and proxy voting must be registered with the Chief Executive at least two days prior to the election.
Meanwhile, no one has yet been nominated to be the next President of the States of Alderney.
That election is being held on Saturday the 12th November, to find a replacement for Stuart Trought.
Any nominations must be submitted before 4pm next Tuesday.
Anyone who wishes to vote in either election must be registered on Alderney’s electoral roll, which will close tomorrow. Anyone who wants to have their name added to the list must contact the States of Alderney by the end of the day on the 28th October.
