Aurigny named ‘Airline of the Year’
Aurigny has been named ‘Airline of the Year’ by Southampton Airport.
The recognition follows the drone incident at Gatwick, which forced it to close in December last year.
While many airlines chose to cancel all flights to the airport, Aurigny decided to re-route all operations to Southampton to keep passengers moving.
During last week’s presentation, we’re told it was noted that Aurigny had demonstrated its position as a community airline.
Ground Operations Manager, Dave Cox, says:
‘This award is truly deserved by all our staff who worked hard in challenging circumstances.
‘The community spirit and comradery felt during the drone incident was fantastic and I feel proud to have been part of the team.’
The award ceremony was held on the 1st Febrauary 2019, and aims to recognise airlines that make a difference.
