Father Christmas heads to Town
A special guest will be heading to Town today to switch on the festive lights.
Father Christmas and his Chief Elf will arrive at the Model Yacht Pond at 3.55pm, and will start a parade into Town.
They will be taking a new route this year, with the Boys Brigade Marching Band, the Rebellion All Stars cheerleaders and some of Father Christmas’ fairytale friends.
The VIP guest is expected to arrive in Market Square at 4.50pm, and will finish the parade by saying hello from the balcony.
The afternoon will come to a close when Father Christmas switches on the lights from Market Square at 5pm.
Entertainment in the square will begin at 3.30pm, including the School of Popular Music, which will be playing from 4.15pm until 4.45pm.
A special post box has been set up on the porch outside Sure’s shop on the High Street, where children can post their letters to Father Christmas before the 10th December.
Father Christmas passed on an important message before the event:
‘Looking forward to seeing all my favourite islanders, but boys and girls, please don’t forget to write your address on the back of your letters so that I can reply!
Ho ho ho!’
