The Bailiff, Sir Geoffrey Rowland, hosted a drinks reception for the Island Games team at the Royal Court on Tuesday July 12th to celebrate the island’s medal success. Team Guernsey won 41 gold, 41 silver and 27 bronze medals to top the leader board. The 2011 Guernsey team is the only team in the history of the Island Games to lead the medal table on every day of the Games, from the first day through to the finish. In addition, Guernsey now holds the record for winning the highest number of gold medals away from home. Well done Guernsey!

The emergency exercise at Guernsey Airport last night was a scenario in which a plane crashed into a bus full of passengers being escorted to another aircraft. 45 actors played the part of casualties and relatives inside the terminal building to make it as realistic as possible.
