EARTH MARCH

Sun 25th August 2019

Extinction Rebellion and the Vale Earth Fair Collective have joined forces to alert our Government, companies, media and citizens to the current ecological and climate emergency by staging a march to Vale Earth Fair 2019.

Anyone participating in the Earth March is eligible for half price entry to the Vale Earth Fair. Profits from the festival go to support three vital international development/justice causes: Free Tibet, Burma Campaign UK and Guernsey’s own Bridge to Haiti. They are thrilled to be rallying support for international justice and a democratic, equitable and sustainable world, which is inextricable from climate justice.

The march will be peaceful and vibrant and the mood will be welcoming and joyous. This will be a celebration of the earth as well as a call to urgent action from the powerful in our society to craft the economically equitable and environmentally sustainable future all people deserve. The march will go ahead in all weathers and everyone is welcome, whether you’re a veteran of the Vale Earth Fair, or have never set foot in a festival. Marchers are most welcome to just join them for the march if they prefer.

Once in the festival, XR Guernsey will have the stage for a short period of time, and several local music acts will perform to show their support for urgent and equitable action on climate.

Confirmed acts so far include Kiya Ashton, James Askew and Rob Gregson.

Marchers will meet outside the Tourist Information office on North Plantation from 10am.

The march will arrive at the Vale Castle at roughly midday. There will be an XR “Tell the Truth” boat, which will feature a mobile sound system and a DJ on board.

EXTINCTION REBELLION GUERNSEY PRESENTS WASTED! THE STORY OF FOOD WASTE

Wed 4th September 2019

A film screening, all about food.

A third of the food grown annually for human consumption is never eaten – for one reason or another, it ends up in the bin.

That’s 1.3 billion tons of food every year. At the same time, 800 million people around the globe are starving, and the carbon footprint of producing our food (and then its decay when it’s thrown away), is a massive contributor to global warming and the climate crisis.

WASTED! aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle, and eat food.

See how some of the world’s most influential chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system.
