Until 31st March 2017 the site is open from 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm at weekends. The facility accepts a wide range of different items, from rubble and old bricks to electrical items and wooden furniture. Any that are in good working condition can be given a new home. LRTT GUERNSEY FUNDRAISING CEILIDH

Money raised is going to help four Guernsey teachers volunteer this summer in Rwanda, Guyana, Uganda and Nepal, training teachers who work with little or no training and very limited resources. SCRUTINY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING

These hearings seek to explore progress being made on the implementation of government policy, together with the management of public resources. They also help to inform the Scrutiny Management Committee and the public on issues which may require a more substantial review of policy or of States’ finances. The Panel will comprise Deputy Chris Green (Chair), Deputy Peter Roffey and Non-States Member Gill Morris.
This is a formal parliamentary proceeding and therefore members of the public are welcome to attend in an observational capacity but are not able to ask questions or make any comment whilst the hearing is in progress. Room 6, The Royal Court between 10am and 12 noon.

LIVING HISTORY TOUR OF GUILLE-ALLES LIBRARY

Fans of local history will have an exciting chance to tour the iconic Guille-Allès Library building with one of its former staff this spring. The tour will be led by Linwood Pitts, the original curator of the Guille-Allès Library and Museum, who died in 1917. Mr Pitts, played by John Gaisford from the Guernsey History in Action Company, will be returning to the library 100 years after his death.

This is a great chance for people to visit the library after hours and learn about the history of the building. The tour will roam through all four floors of the library, highlighting interesting features of the building while telling the stories of the many people who have worked there over the years. The tour will culminate with drinks and nibbles in the Entrance Hall.

Tour dates are free to attend, but donations to the Children’s Library Project are welcomed. Please call 720392 or email ga@library.gg to reserve a place.

THE SECRETS AND HISTORY OF THE JERBOURG PENINSULA WALK

LA RIBOTRIE- MUSIC AND DANCING

La Ribotrie is akin to the Breton Fest Noz or a Ceilidh, in France they simply call it Bal or Bal Folk. The idea is to try and bring back some of the French and native culture to Guernsey including Guernesiais and some of the dances that still remain here, very much like the Norman French dances.
