The Guernsey Mobility Let’s Go Group meet every Tuesday afternoon & focus on bringing sporting activities to people with disabilities.

The group runs solely on donations, sponorships and volunteers.

STRONG BY ZUMBA – CHARITY EVENT

Celebrate National Fitness Day on 26th September by trying a new activity whilst raising funds for This Is EPIC and Guernsey Cheshire Home.

EPIC Challenges are teaming up with instructors Brandi Attewell and Kirsty Bell, as well as assistance from instructors Paula Konteji and Phil Midgley to put on Get Stronger, a special one-hour session to introduce beginners to STRONG by Zumba.

The aim is for at least 100 people to take part – it’s the perfect opportunity for groups of friends and work colleagues to participate together.

TOUR GUILLE-ALLES LIBRARY

During Libraries Week  the original Curator John Linwood Pitts will lead Living History tours of the iconic Library building.

Mr Pitts (played by John Gaisford from Guernsey History in Action) is returning more than 100 years after his death to explain how his friends Thomas Guille and Frederick Allès came to fulfil their boyhood dream of opening a library in Guernsey.

The tour will take in the whole building, including areas not normally open to the public, as Mr Pitts tells stories from the Library’s long history, from its earliest days in the 19th Century through the Great War and the Occupation up to the present day.

The tours are on Tuesday 9th, 10.30 to 11.30am, and Thursday 11th, 6 to 7pm.

GUILLE-ALLES LIBRARY READING GROUP

In October the Reading Group will discuss ‘Pachinko’ by Min Jin Lee.

Chosen by the New York Times as one of the 10 best books of 2017, it’s the story of Korean immigrants in Japan in the middle of the 20th Century, facing an uncertain future in a hostile country as world wars and then a civil war back home turn their lives upside down.

The meetings are at the Library on Wednesday 17 October, 7.30pm to 9.00pm, and Saturday 20 October, 3.30pm to 5.00pm. Come along to whichever is more convenient.
