ST PETER PORT TOWN CARNIVAL

The first week is dedicated to local entertainers. Entertainment throughout Town from  10am to 3pm each day apart from Sunday and the performers will collect from the public each day to help the fund raising for the event.

In the second   week the local entertainers will be joined by this year’s professional Line up UK/European artists who are Puppetree Company,  Il Destino Classical tenors.  Classycool  string quartet, Stanley’s Dixie Street Jazz Band from the Czech Republic, Sound of Steel –  Steel Band , The Western Valley Hot club- trio and  Rainbow the Clown.

Starting on 15th July there will be local entertainment at  Market Square, Dix Neuf, Boots, Hideaway and  Creasey’s in the high street and some extra venues at lunchtime to be announced. On the 24th July until 30th July the locals will combine with the professionals to entertain around the Town.

On Wednesday 27th July there will be a Black tie cabaret dinner at the Duke of Richmond at which his Excellency the Lieutenant Governor , Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder  C.B. and his wife Kathryn will be present. PSYCHOLOGY IN THE PUB

The talk is titled ‘Sexual offenders: A suitable case for treatment?’

Dr David Briggs will be talking about sexual offenders – who they are, why do they offend, what makes them risky, and how should they be managed.  He  will look at the effectiveness of different interventions and some thoughts on how we might keep people on Guernsey safe.

David is a forensic clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience in the assessment and management of sexual offenders, including those with mental health problems.  He works within the Channel Islands and the UK and acts as consultant to the Guernsey Probation Service.

The event is free and anyone is welcome to come along!
