The number of children who are overweight or obese remains a concern for the island’s health officials.

A new report has found that 17% of children in Year One are overweight or obese, while 29% of children in Year 5 have the same status.

“The causes of obesity and overweight are really complex, so it’s a range of factors that influence how active children are and what they eat.” – Simon Sebire, Chief Executive of the Health Improvement Commission.

The Commission has been working with Butterflies pre-school to make sure young children are being as healthy as possible.
