Guernsey woman selected to swim around Manhattan
Guernseys Rosie Williams will attempt to swim around Manhattan island, New York tomorrow.
The challenge follows her successful English Channel swim almost a year ago.
The swim will be 28 and a half miles, which is longer than the channel swim, and will see her pass under all 20 New York bridges.
Rosie had to be selected and is one of less than a hundred who are allowed to do the swim in 2019.
She will be the first Guernsey person to attempt the challenge, and if she is successful will be two thirds of the way through the long-distance Swimming Triple Crown.
The Triple Crown was first completed by Mexican national Antonio Argüelles in 1999. Argüelles completed the challenge again in 2009.
The third swim is from Los Angeles, California to Catalina Island in the Pacific.
