No Footpath Access To Divette Bay

25th June 2015

The footpath to Divette Bay, along the St Martin’s cliffs has been closed, from its junction with the East coast cliff path.

Part of the cliff beneath the path has subsided, leaving a one metre wide section partially undermined. Wire fencing and concrete beams beneath the path have also been displaced meaning the area is not safe.

There are also two broken steps at the base of the path leading on to the beach.

The Environment Department has decided to close the path until it can work out if the damage can be repaired. A roped access inspection is necessary and that will be done as soon as the contractor is available.

It’s thought the damage may have been caused by rainwater.
