WASTE TO JERSEY CAMPAIGN GATHERS SUPPORTMore and more islanders are backing efforts to send our rubbish to Jersey.
Stan Brouard manager, Rodney Brouard, has now revealed he's had talks with
Jersey's Finance Minister Philip Ozouf, to see if there's scope for an
agreement between the two islands.
He says Guernsey officials have now asked the other island to put a proposal
together to see how much exporting our waste would cost.
Mr Brouard says many islanders here are supporting his efforts to avoid
seeing a new waste treatment plant built at the Longue Hougue.

GUERNSEY OFFICIALS PLAN FOR FLU PANDEMIC
Guernsey's essential services have been meeting to decide how they'll deal
with a Swine Flu pandemic.
The States called a seminar this morning to help the island's utility
providers, food suppliers, and the financial community prepare for an
outbreak.
They want to be sure companies can deal with large numbers of staff being off
sick.
The States Emergency Planning Officer Catherine Veron, was on the panel to
give advice and answer questions at the meeting.
She says communication between all those key groups is vital.
Director of Guernsey Water Andrew Redhead was at the seminar as well.
He says the company has a continuity plan in place to ensure islanders taps
keep running.
Mr Redhead says it is the first time the island has been faced with this kind
of threat.
Islanders can keep up to date with the latest swine flu advice by visiting
the states website www.gov.gg

GSPCA URGE ISLANDERS TO TAKE CARE OF PETS IN HOT WEATHER
The GSPCA's trying to cut the number of rabbits and guinea pigs dying because
of the extreme heat.
Director of Operations Jane Le Cras says they are seeing too many of the
animals put down because they're not being checked for fly strike.
When these pets are kept in hot hutches flies can be attracted to them and
lay their eggs on them.
If those then become maggots they can get inside the animals which in the end
have to be put down.
Jane says too many islanders aren't checking their pets enough.
Meanwhile the GSPCA's also urging islanders to be careful with their dogs as
temperatures soar.
It's after 2 police dogs died while in a car in Nottingham.
The group says if it is warm you should never leave the animals inside a
vehicle, even with a window or sunshield open.
