Andrew Senneck

I moved to Guernsey two years ago from the Westcountry and have loved every minute so far!

I used to present a Saturday Night programme on a station in Torbay and when I moved over here, I lost touch with radio until Island FM started looking for people, so I thought I would give it another go and it was just like riding a bike! I was rewarded with Sports Saturday which suited me as I love sport so Im now basically getting paid to sit and watch as much as possible and then talk about it!

In my spare time, I enjoy films, music and following Torquay United!

A bit more about Andrew

1. Where were you born, and how did you get into radio?

I'm from the seaside resort of Torquay in South Devon, which is where I grew up. After doing an A Level in Media Studies, I decided to get involved in radio so did what everyone else does, and joined my local Hospital Radio where I produced a classical show and also presented the Sunday Morning Breakfast Show!

Then a new station started in the area called Palm 105.5 and I was invited to the launch party where I got mingling and ended up being asked to come along and do some Tech work and 6 days later, I was asked to cover the Saturday Night show. I covered that shift for a year!

2. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

Possibly flying.....I hate flying so if I could fly myself then it would solve all the hassle!

3. What was the first single and album you bought?

My first single was Freddie Mercury - Living On My Own and my first album I think was The Lightning Seeds - Jollification......?

4. Favourite film of all time?

Its a toss up between The Shawshank Redemption, The Truman Show, Star Wars or any James Bond Film!

5. What is your favourite time of day?

Im a night owl so anything in the evening. Im not a morning person at all!

6. Which person dead or alive do you admire the most and why?

I always admired William and Harry for being in the public eye so much especially when dealing with the death of their mother, plus I think Harry would be a great bloke to go out for a drink with!!!

Plus of course, my family just for putting up with one of the grumpiest yet sarcastic people you could meet!

7. What is your favourite holiday destination?

Ive not really had the chance to travel much but I visited the Greek Islands a few years back and really enjoyed it! Im hoping to go to the States one day though so thats bound to win!

8. If you could play a musical instrument what would it be? Or can you already play one?

I would love to be able to play the drums and the piano. I can play Chopsticks but thats about it!

9. What is your favourite thing about Guernsey?

The laid back way of life. I love walking round the harbour and it feels like time has stood still. I can also never get over the driving over here, as coming from the UK Im so used to people being so rude and aggressive in the driving where over here everyone gives way and are really patient!

10. Finally, what did your final school report say about you?

I think it was something along the lines of "Andrew is a confident methodical worker and should do well in whatever he chooses"....! Honest, its true! I was a bit of a geek at school!
