Olivia Tostevin

Olivia has lived in Guernsey all her life and loves it! She decided to get into the world of media during secondary school. After studying English and Theatre Studies she decided to try her hand at broadcasting.

She started by doing work experience in local TV and got the bug! Olivia then joined Jubilee Hospital Radio and presented her own weekly show. She then heard that Island FM was looking for a new presenter and here she is!

You can catch Olivia on our Daytime show between 10am and 2pm every weekday, and from 6 - 10am and on the Saturday Breakfast show.

A Bit More About Olivia

1. Where were you born, and how did you get into radio?

I'm Guernsey born and bred and proud of it! I started by doing work experience in the local media, making the tea and learning the ropes. I was searching for work when I heard on Island Fm that they were looking for a presenter so I was straight round there literally knocking on the door asking for a chance! I had a voice test and here I am!

2. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

I would love to be able to control time. Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day, and sometimes there are far too many!

3. What was the first single and album you bought?

Very embarrassing but the first single was Pink - Get the party Started and the first album was Britney Spears - Baby one more time which actually came with a poster that I stuck on my wall. I like to think my music taste has improved considerably since then!

4. Favourite film of all time?

That's a tough one. One of them has to be 'The Notebook' because I'm such a romantic but I also think 'Anchorman' is one of the funniest films ever made.

5. What is your favourite Island FM moment (on or off air)?

Big Kids day 2009 was really fun. Loved the effort everyone put in and meeting all of the fundraisers and listeners.

6. If you hadn't been a radio presenter/newsreader what would you have been?

I'm not really sure as I'm not very good at much else apart from talking....at one point I wanted to be an estate agent!

 7. What is your favourite holiday destination?

Dubai. I've been there a fair few times with my family and we have lots of great memories there. You can always rely on good weather, good food and good times!

8. If you could play a musical instrument what would it be? Or can you already play one?

I've had a go at both the piano and the flute but unfortunately didn't stick with them long enough. I'd love to play the piano well though....I should make it a New Years resolution.

9. What is your favourite thing about Guernsey?

Ah so many things! I love the summers on Vazon with chips on the wall at Cobo and evenings at the Rockmount. I also love how it only takes a maximum of 20 minutes to get anywhere as I hate long car journeys and I love the people who live here.

10. Finally, what did your final school report say about you?

"Bet you're glad to have finally finished now Olivia as you so obviously did not enjoy school but you made it through!"
