Important to continue overseas aid
The Overseas Aid and Development Commission has released its annual report for 2017.
The report touches on lots of projects that have received support from the island throughout the year, and also highlights the need for continued training and checks following the sexual misconduct scandal at the beginning of 2018.
President of the Commission, Deputy Emilie Yerby, says it’s important that we continue supporting overseas projects.
‘It’s within living memory that we ourselves were coming out of the occupation and were dependent on the kindness and support of others to keep us as a community from starvation.
‘We have gone on to flourish since then and we are now in the privileged position of being a community that can raise others up, give back to the world so I think it’s absolutely critical that we do that.’
