Plans for on-site cafe at Little Chapel
Little Chapel visitors could enjoy an on-site cafe and gift shop in future, if proposals go to plan.
The popular tourist attraction has been undergoing an extensive refurbishment, which is due to be completed in April this year.
The landmark has been relying on donations to get the work done, and the Little Chapel Foundation has been encouraging both locals and visitors to give what they can to help.
It’s hoped a cafe and shop would generate some of the funds needed to keep the chapel in good condition.
Chairman of the Foundation, John Silvestor, says:
‘We need more than £52,000 a year to keep it running.
‘If we can get the money from the people coming through the gate, that’s fine.
‘We don’t want to start going to different charities asking for money.
‘So, if we could have a cafe and a shop, we could create the income to not have to charge for entry to the site and also to provide the facilities, because there are no toilets there or anything.’
The Little Chapel is one of Guernsey’s top tourist attractions, with about 80,000 people visiting each year.
