Primary School admission registration open
Registration for primary school admissions are now open.
That means parents and carers in Guernsey and Alderney can now register their children for a place at a school in their catchment area, ready to start in September next year.
All children who are due to start school should be registered before 3pm on Friday 14th December, and any names registered after this time will have a lower priority for the allocation of spaces.
Children who are baptised Catholic can be registered at either Notre Dame du Rosaire or St Mary and St Michael.
It is possible for parents and carers to make an application for their child to attend a schools which is not in their catchment area, but they must still apply to their area as well as sending a PC-OCAS request form to the Education Office.
You can find more information on how to make a request here.
Director of Education, Andrew Warren, says:
‘It is really important that children are registered for a school place by Friday 14th December as the year group sizes can influence the resources allocated to each primary school.
‘Children registered after this period are less likely to gain a place at their catchment school.
‘Once the school number have been finalised, we hope to confirm all places in writing by Wednesday 10th April 2019.’
Application forms for all of the primary schools can be found here and at the schools themselves.
