Parents and carers in Guernsey and Alderney can register their child for a place in their catchment primary school from today.

Education, Sport and Culture’s opened the applications process for pupils starting in September 2018.

Children due to start school must be registered between 9am Monday 2nd October to 3pm Friday 15th December.

Although children may still be registered after this period they will have a lower priority for the allocation of available spaces at their catchment school than those who registered within the registration period.

Parents and carers can register by completing a form which is available online.

Catchment maps are available online.

Children who are baptised Catholic may be registered at one of the two voluntary Catholic Primary schools, Notre Dame du Rosaire or St Mary & St Michael.

Deputy Director of Education, Helen Grand, said:

“It is important that parents register their child for a school place by the closing date. We will begin allocating staff and resources immediately after the closing date so if parents fail to register within this period their child will be less likely to gain a place at their catchment school.

“We are aiming to confirm all places in writing on or before 28 th March 2018 once numbers in each school have been finalised.”
