PWC Report Released
The PWC report in to the island’s air and sea links has been released. The 80 page document was commissioned by Policy and Resources last Spring and has been kept under wraps until now.
The report reveals Guernsey is relatively well co
nnected for an island of its size; however, we do perform worse than Jersey through servicing fewer destinations with a lower seat capacity.
There are currently 16 routes out of Guernsey but there are no direct routes to global connecting hubs such as Heathrow – however that is set to change.
The report looked at some of the issues surrounding the runway extension including the four options on the table. An extension to 1800 metres – EasyJet’s original request – would give access to southern Spain, Portugal, and most of Europe.
P&R, however, would prefer to improve our sea links and have submitted a policy letter requesting investigations in to runway extensions are stopped.
