Rules relaxed to make Christmas lights accessible

Blue Badge holders and elderly people have the chance to drive or be driven through Town, to see the Christmas lights.

They can travel through Smith Street and the High Street, travelling in the direction of the Town Church, Le Pollet and the High Street, travelling in the direction of the Town Church or Mansell Street and Mill Street, travelling in the direction of the Market Building.

Traffic and Highway Services is allowing this between 6pm and 10pm each Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, starting from 5th December until 2nd January.

That excludes Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

All vehicles must be carrying someone of a pensionable age or a Blue Badge holder, and should pay attention to the 12mph speed limit.

There is no need to obtain a permit.
