St Peter Port lifeboat called out to assist 10m yacht

1st August 2018

The Spirit of Guernsey lifeboat was called out last night to assist a 10m yacht, four miles north of Sark.

The French ‘Octave’ had suffered an engine failure, and couldn’t sail due to the lack of wind.

It had been organised that a nearby fishing boat would tow the ship to St Peter Port, but its engine overheated, and the ‘Bambi’ was unable to continue with the tow.

The lifeboat left the pier just after 9pm, and arrived back in St Peter Port with the casualty at about 11pm.
