New electricity cable to be laid between Guernsey and Jersey
An electricity cable will be laid next month to replace a former cable that failed in October 2018.
Replacing the existing cable will return Guernsey to importing 90% of its electricity from sustainable sources in France.
A cable laying ship, the NKT Victoria will travel to Jersey this week to clear the seabed before it can be installed.
Travelling from Sweden, the 140 metre vessel arrived at Havelet on Wednesday. It now moves to Greve de Lecq while undertaking a pre-lay grapnel run.
As with the existing link, when established the cable will come ashore at Havelet Bay.
