Visitor Numbers Are Up
Visitor numbers to Guernsey are up 8% for the first half of the year compared with the same period in 2018, but those staying overnight has fallen.
The rise in tourists was driven by a strong cruise season in 2019, with 11,000 additional passenger, a 21% increase on last year.
Visitors travelling by air fell by 3% during the first six months of the year and by sea by 5% .
Tourists from France and other countries saw strong growth of 11% and 16% respectively, while numbers from Jersey increased by 12% but visitors from the UK fell by 11%.
Staying leisure visitors, the largest and most valuable segment of the tourism market, remained stable and those staying with friends or relatives increased by 2%.
However those visitors staying for business purposes dropped by 11%.
