£2K Raised For Jersey Infertility Support Group

A fundraiser to allow a Jersey group to increase the level of support it can offer to couples going through infertility has smashed its £2,000 target.

Tiny Seeds was formed in August 2020 to help people who are feeling isolated and lonely. 5.2% of all births in Jersey in 2019 were a result of fertility treatment.

One person donated £500 last night to get the group past its £2,000 target, - saying that without the help of the small support group they had at the time, they wouldn't have their 'miracle daughter'.

The group now has around 100 members. They meet monthly to offer support to those people going through the challenges that infertility brings.

"Quite often when you are going through infertility, you do feel quite alone and you feel like nobody understands. To see people coming forward and donating to us, it does show that there is empathy out there for infertility and that people do want to help.

"Now that, hopefully, the Covid restrictions are easing, we'd like to get back to our face-to-face support group so there are some associated costs with the venue. We'd need somewhere that is private so we're not overheard or interrupted." - Chloe Fosse, Tiny Seeds founder.

Donations will also go towards web design fees to share online advice and resources, targeted campaigns, and legal costs associated with registering as a charity, which Tiny Seeds is hoping to do in the future.

"We have many more plans and ideas in the pipeline for ways to help those going through infertility, whilst at the same time raising awareness of the difficult and often heartbreaking experiences that at least 1 in 8 couples go through when trying to have a family. However, we have reached a point where we need a little help to achieve these plans.

"Any funds received will go entirely towards fulfilling our aim of ensuring that the people of Jersey living with infertility are supported at all stages of their journey."
