Flood Warning As Storm Ciara Hits

A red level tidal warning has been issued as storm Ciara brings severe gales.

Islanders are being advised to take extra care outside - particularly on the coasts.

Jersey Met says winds and high tide will combine to send large waves over the sea walls along the south and east coasts.

The police have advised that Victoria Avenue may have to be closed for a time.

High tide is at 6.52pm Sunday and 7.09am Monday.

Winds are forecast to increase to Force 8 this afternoon, with gusts to 60mph.  They will get stronger into the evening, potentially reaching severe gale Force 9 locally and gusting to 65mph.

Monday morning is also forecast to be windy F6-8.

Ferry sailings have been cancelled, as have many flights.
