More Roadworks At Five Oaks Start Next Week

There will be more disruption for drivers using the Five Oaks roundabout from next Monday.

The next stage of roadworks on Grande Route de St Martin means lanes will be closed and diversions will be in place via La Hougue Bie until mid October.

We're told improvements will be made to footpaths, zebra crossing and vehicle entrances north of the roundabout.

Further work will take place in November to reconstruct the roundabout and resurface the stretch of road outside Normans.

“I’d like to thank motorists for their patience throughout this significant project, and once again, apologise for any disruptions or inconvenience. By creating the diversion via La Hougue Bie, instead of using temporary traffic lights, I expect delays to be kept to a minimum.”   - Rob Cabot, Highway Maintenance Manager.

The latest disruption follows a three week division in June to repair the sewage tank beneath the roundabout, and a further five weeks of closures along the main road to St Martin throughout the summer holidays.

Full information about the project and diversion routes are available at gov.je/roadworks and on the Government of Jersey’s social media pages.
Information on changes to the bus schedule during the works are available on www.libertybus.je or by calling +44 (0) 1534 828555.

Meanwhile, part of Longueville Road will be closed again this Sunday (9am-8pm) because resurfacing work isn't finished.

Work has been going on evenings and weekends, but engineers say they need one more Sunday to finish the first phase of the project.

During the Sunday closure:
*access to Longueville Manor Hotel will be from the west of the junction
*access to Rue des Pres Trading Estate will be from the east only
*residents of Rue des Pres will only be able to access from the south, and
*residents of Rue Saint Thomas will only be able to access from the north.

The second stage is expected to begin in four or five weeks' time, although  no date has yet been set.
