Marti Pellow to perform for Jersey Battle of Flowers

Former Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow will close this year's Battle of Flowers festival with a special show on Lower Park.

The Scottish singer's performance on Sunday 11 August will provide the finale to the three-day spectacle, following the Grand Day Parade on Friday 9 August and Moonlight Parade on Saturday 10 August.

The iconic voice of Wet Wet Wet is bringing his greatest hits summer tour to the island.

Marti Pellow says he can't wait:

"I'm absolutely thrilled for my first time at the Battle of the Flowers Festival! It's truly an honour to be part of such a wonderful event that carries so much heritage.

"I can't wait to immerse myself in the festivities and share some unforgettable moments with everyone there.

"The energy, the colours, the atmosphere - let's turn Jersey into one big party and make memories that will last a lifetime."

Wet Wet Wet enjoyed success in the late 1980s and 1990s, with chart-topping hits including Love is All Around, Sweet Surrender, Angel Eyes and Sweet Little Mystery.

The band split in 1997, but reformed 2004-2017. Since then Marti Pellow has gone to record albums as a solo artist and star as Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway and in the West End.

His visit to the island has been organised by Jersey Opera House as part of its 'offsite programme' while the historic theatre is undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment.

Andy Eagle is Theatre Director of the Jersey Opera House:

"We are thrilled to join forces with the Battle of Flowers to bring Marti Pellow's greatest hits summer tour to the Battle of Flowers stage. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing exceptional entertainment experiences for our community. We can't wait to see Marti light up the stage!"

The Battle of Flowers is returning 9-11 August, with all 12 parishes represented in this summer's parades for the first time in a generation.

St Martin and St John are teaming up with Trinity to form the Northern Alliance and St Mary and St Ouen are joining forces after a long absence.

Sam Ryder is also performing, closing the Grand Day Parade with a family-friendly concert.
