Islanders will be donning their running shoes everyday in October for 30 Runs In 30 Days.

The event, which will raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice, asks entrants to run for 30 minutes everyday for the month of October.

Liz Stonebridge, from the organising team, says the hugely successful event all comes from a great idea, inspired through a very successful concept, run by Ian Brown's cycling challenge.

Liz says the event is not just for athletes.

"What we're trying to do this year is actually encourage some more of the beginner and intermediate runners into the event. So we recognise that asking people to run everyday may be quite a challenge, so we're trying to change the focus to people making a positive and sustainable change in their lifestyle, and perhaps setting a running goal that is good for them".

The aim, the team say, is not to set the bar for achievement too high to begin with. Rather, it should be considered an enjoyable part of your daily routine that you look forward to.

The team say that getting a friend involved may help too.
