Guernsey could get its first drive-through takeaway if planners agree to plans submitted for Oatlands Village.
FB Ltd, which owns the business, has applied to the Development & Planning Authority to install a hut in the main carpark which would take orders. Customers would then drive to the rear of the open play area off Oatlands Lane to collect their order.
"This would make it a much smoother operation and to some extent stop people conglomerating where they arrive. Their order would be ready to collect at the rear elevation which is ideal because it's a one-way system, you can only turn left and are not turning into traffic," says Chris Coles from FB Ltd.
He adds that many local establishments started offering a takeaway service when the island came out of lock down and this application is something new for Guernsey:
"We're fortunate enough to have such a good car park there that the application is not for the business itself, which is ancillary to the existing operation, it is simply for an order point in the car park and a hatch in the rear elevation just to make it a smoother operation."
