1000 Volunteers Needed For Guernsey Island Games

As the countdown to the Guernsey Island Games 2023 continues, organisers are looking for 1000 volunteers.

Organisers hope to have secured that number by the end of September 2022 to allow time for training.

Around 650 have registered so far.

Volunteering Director Wayne Bulpitt describes what kind of person they're looking for.

"People of all ages, all experiences. Whether they start now helping us with some of the administration, the medal ceremonies, arranging the flags, and all the other things that go to make Guernsey 2023 so popular and so successful for the island.

We are looking to do that by the end of September so we can do a little bit of training, give a little bit of information about the games, and more importantly make it as enjoyable an experience for the volunteers as for the athletes and officials that will be coming to our island."

Wayne added that there are lots of different roles available.

"We're particularly looking for mini bus drivers to help us transport the 3500 athletes and officials around the island, we're looking for stewards, those famous Game Makers to make people feel welcome, particular people to help us with accommodation - just about any role you can think of, we have something for you to do."

Islanders wanting to volunteer can sign up here.
