The Assembly approves a plan to create the right economics needed to look after Guernsey's ageing population.
In common with many european countries, Guernsey has an ageing population and Employment and Social Security estimate that there will be excess demand for bed spaces in the near future.
Deputies agreed that the care home market needs stability and each of the propositions received overwhelming backing.
Employment and Social Security's proposals will update the Long-term Care Insurance Scheme, which has been in existence for more than 20 years.
It provides financial support to those in need of it for their elderly care.
The measures agreed will see islanders paying more in terms of the co-payment for a bed in care home.
A front end care fee of £10,000 for those who can afford it was also voted through.
A successful amendment means that persons qualifying for help will need to have been living in Guernsey for an aggregate of 20 years, since 2003.
