A fire broke out at Craig's Motors early on Thursday evening and the emergency services will reassess the scene today, 30 August.
Police and Guernsey Fire and Rescue were called to the garage early yesterday evening (29 August).
A video shared to Island FM by a listener shows thick black smoke coming from behind the garage forecourt and distinct sounds of popping and banging can be heard.
Fire crews stayed for some time to ensure there was no chance of the fire re-igniting. They will carry out a further assessment later today, (30 August).
People living nearby were told to keep their windows closed and are being urged not to touch any debris that may have fallen into their properties. Anyone with any concerns about this is being advised to contact Environmental Health on 01481 221161.
