Islanders considering standing in the next general election can attend a series of 'insightful' classes on government functions, for free, in the new year.
The seven sessions will run weekly from mid-January into February.
They will cover how the island’s government is structured and functions.
Attendees will also meet current States Members at these sessions and can ask questions.
President of the States’ Assembly & Constitution Committee, Deputy Carl Meerveld, highly recommends attending.
"These sessions will be of huge benefit for anyone considering standing for election next year.
"They also play a very important role in benefiting the community, as the more incoming States Members who have a good understanding of how government operates, the better it will be for the crucial decision-making process of the States Assembly.
"I would strongly urge anyone who is interested in standing for election, even if at this stage they are unsure whether they are going to pursue it, to attend this free course."
The attendance of each session will be recorded and will be noted on the attendees' manifesto page if they choose to stand - so 'the electorate know about the preparatory work they have carried out'.
The next Guernsey General Election will take place on Wednesday 18 June 2025.
