Guernsey Air Display takes off in the evening

For the first time, the Guernsey Air Display is being held in the evening - marking 80 years since VE Day and the island's liberation.

Crowds on the east coast will be able to spot the Red Arrows, wartime aircraft and pyrotechnic planes.

From 6:30pm to 8pm, spectators can catch a glimpse in the skies above St Peter Port.

Organiser, Natalie Davidson, hopes the new time-slot will make the event more accessible for those who are usually at work or school and cannot attend.

"The Guernsey Air Display has been enjoyed by thousands for over 60 years.

By moving the display to the evening and having food and entertainment on offer, we are really excited for the whole community to come together to enjoy this fantastic spectacle.

A massive thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

The Air Display relies almost entirely on private funding from the generous support of local businesses who form a Consortium and Corporate and individual Friends of the Guernsey Air Display, alongside a grant and underwrite from the States of Guernsey.

We hope everyone has a great evening."

The RAF events team has confirmed the Red Arrows will return and there is an appearance from Typhoon display aircraft too.

18.30 Yak3 and Boomerang

18.45 RAF Red Arrows

19.12 Navy Wings Harvard

19.22 RAF Typhoon

19.33 Pitts

19.46 Airborne Pyrotechnic

Drivers can leave their cars at Ladies' College, Lukis House and Beau Sejour, and walk to the display.

A food village will open at the end of the Crown Pier, with catering and seating to watch the planes.

Boat owners are being urged to familiarise themselves with the restricted areas, which must be clear before 6:25pm.

Should a drone be flown anywhere in the Bailiwick, the display will have to stop.
