Runway specialists will begin annual checks and maintenance after the airport closes on 14 May.
The runway at Guernsey Airport was levelled and resurfaced in a multi-million pound project between 2012 and 2013.
But runways are subject to the impact of aircraft landing and have to be kept in a condition that satisfies strict safety criteria.
For the next ten nights, aerodrome pavement specialists Amco Giffen will carry out annual, preventative maintenance to both the runway and taxiways where they will cut and fill any defects.
The airport normally closes at 9pm. The plan is allow airlines an extra half an hour to get aircraft back but a spokesperson for Guernsey Ports says that 9.30pm is a strict deadline, as the contractor will need the full night to carry out the work and be ready to open the next day.
For the past few weeks, a number of Aurigny flights have arrived far later than this because of issues around aircraft and crew availability or weather.
Guernsey Ports say people living close to the airport may notice some noise.
There is a contingency if there is a need for a medical evacuation flight.
