Mark Prevel says he has 'banked some miles' to make the remaining two weeks easier.
In the mid 90s, Mark Prevel was assessed for a lung transplant, but since then, he has trained to take on a series of endurance challenges and regularly runs Guernsey's cliff paths.
His latest is an attempt at a world record, to walk two million or more steps in 28 days.
To achieve this, Mark is getting up between 1am and 3am to log the miles before work:
"I started on 1 June and got as many miles as I could in.
"I'm putting 20 miles in a day so that way I can accumulate 100 miles and 100 miles on the weekend, which will take a few miles off next week, as if I didn't, it would be 350 miles."
Mark took part in the gruelling round the island Saffery Rotary Walk, but incredibly completed three circuits.
He says rest was an issue that weekend:
"I got my medal with 100 miles on my watch, and I managed to catch 30 minutes of sleep in the 38 hours I was up.
"Sleep deprivation, you definitely hallucinate, as your brain is trying to shut down because it needs sleep."
Mark has chosen Les Bourgs Hospice to benefit from the money raised:
"It's their 35th year, so I thought that's a coincidence, and I haven't done any funding for them, so I thought it's about time I did something for Les Bourgs."
Mark says he appreciates the support he is getting from passersby, as he becomes a familiar sight on island roads this June.
