Guernsey Parkrun Celebrates 300th Event

More than 100 people will take part in the 300th 5K course organised by Guernsey Parkrun this weekend.

Tomorrow morning (31 December) keen runners, joggers and walkers will gather at Pembroke Bay to participate in Guernsey Parkrun's 300th event.

Every Saturday - for the last 300 weeks - around 100 to 150 people have completed the 5K cross-country course.

Event director Charlotte Dunsterville says there is always a diverse crowd:

"Anybody is welcome to join - we have locals from Guernsey but also lots of visitors as well who come to enjoy our beautiful Parkrun up at L'Ancresse.

It's absolutely a community thing, even though it's called a Parkrun there is no obligation at all to run, you do it at your own pace, and it's certainly not a race.

It's really meant to be about health, enjoyment and getting out into the open air."

She says she is thrilled to have hit such a large milestone:

"It's so good to be at 300 Parkruns and looking back I can't quite believe we've done that many, but it's a great achievement and it has become a staple in the Guernsey running calendar."
