Bailiwick GCSE pass rate exceeds national average by nearly 5%

72% of all GCSE and Level 2 equivalents taken in the Bailiwick this year were graded 4 or above.

This is 2.2% higher than last year and 4.9% higher than England's 67.1%.

The President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, Deputy Paul Montague, applauded the students.

“Receiving GCSE, BTEC or vocational qualifications is a moment of real importance for students, their families and schools alike.

"These results mark the culmination of years of learning and effort; students collecting their envelopes today should feel proud of what they’ve achieved.

"Having spent many years in the classroom, I know this educational journey is rarely straightforward.

"It takes resilience, determination and perseverance, as well as the support of many dedicated school staff, to reach this point.

"Whether students are heading into sixth form, TGI College, apprenticeships or employment, today is about recognising how far they’ve come and their accomplishments.

"On behalf of the Committee, I offer heartfelt congratulations to all our students and sincere thanks to everyone who has supported them along the way.”

The new grading system (1-9) means anything above a 3 is considered a pass, and 7 to 9 are equivalent to the old A to A*.

Blanchelande College says 87% of students have achieved at least five grades 9-4.

With almost one in three grades at the highest levels.

Principal Alexa Yeoman wishes the students success in their futures.

"Blanchelande has a wide ability intake, and we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where every student is supported to reach their potential.

"This year’s GCSE results are especially encouraging, with students again outperforming their baseline scores - a clear sign of their hard work and progress."

98% of Ladies’ College students passed their exams.

Every student passed their Maths and English GCSEs, and more than half of the grades achieved were A*/A equivalents.

Principal Daniele Harford-Fox says the students' hard work has paid off.

"I’m incredibly impressed with the achievements of this year’s GCSE cohort and the fantastic results they have earned.

"The girls have shown dedication, focus and determination in preparing for these exams, and I could not be prouder of them."

Elizabeth College achieved a 90% pass rate.

43% of passes achieved were graded 9 to 7.

Principal Jenny Palmer says she is proud of the cohort.

"This set of results is a credit to their hard work and commitment as well as a reflection of the support they have received from our dedicated staff and their parents.

"At Elizabeth College, we encourage all students to embrace the wide range of opportunities available to them, helping them grow into well-rounded, purposeful individuals who are ready to contribute positively and thrive."
