16-year-old Cameron Gomes now ranks in the top 60 of UK men.
Cameron Gomes won the Padel Tournament UK at Ilford last week (9 June).
He was due to play alongside his twin brother Luke, but due to injury he was joined by Nikhil Mohindra – the Great Britain number 3 ranked player.
The victory makes Cameron one of the youngest players to ever win a grade 2 tournament in padel tennis.
He’s now ranked in the top 60 UK men and number five for under-18s.
Both Cameron and his brother have been called up to play for the British national U18s team.
The ‘padel twinz’ sponsors R3 Sport and BullPadel UK say their success is particularly impressive as they overcame juvenile epilepsy and are currently studying for their GSCEs.
The number of UK padel players is expected to rise from 90,000 to 600,000 by the end of 2026.
