Aurigny says Guernsey residents could enjoy more reliable air connectivity, thanks to a £2.2bn project to build a second runway at Gatwick Airport.
It's estimated that another 100-thousand flights a year could take off from the West Sussex airport by 2029 when it is upgraded to enable the simultaneous use of two runways.
The Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, says it will create thousands of jobs and boost the UK economy.
But environmental activists and people living nearby have condemned the plans, saying they will contribute to climate change and increase noise pollution.
Guernsey's airline, Aurigny, which flies to the London hub six times a day, is backing the plans.
A company spokesperson calls the expansion a "positive step" for islanders:
“We welcome the approval of the second runway at Gatwick Airport.
"As a key partner in connecting Guernsey with London and onwards to over 230 destinations worldwide, we see this expansion as a positive step which will ultimately provide enhanced flexibility throughout the year to further optimise schedules for the island.
"The move will also help reduce slot delays and enable us to deliver more reliable and efficient services for our community.”
