The latest RPI figure shows a decrease from December's figure of 6.3%
Inflation in Guernsey has been gradually falling away from a peak of 8.5% in December 2022.
Costs associated with the home went up by the biggest margin, nearly 11% over the year to March 2024. These include mortgage repayments, rent and household bills, like rates, water and waste disposal.
Home heating was also an important annual inflation factor, up 7.1%

Food, which was a key driver of inflation in Britain and Guernsey, remained unchanged in the quarter to March 2024.
An increase in tobacco duty, agreed by the States at their last budget, came into effect, and this increased by 6.4% over the first quarter of the year.
The rise in the UK cost of living is 3.2% - down from in excess of 12% in late 2022.
Jersey's inflation rate is currently 7.5% but the new figure is due out on Friday 26 April.
