Martin Search says he's enjoyed helping islanders choose gifts for important occasions since the mid-1970s.
Mr Search, who is an owner and partner at Ray & Scott on The Bridge, says for five decades he has seen Guernsey individuals and families mature:
"50 years of meeting different people is just amazing.
From someone being born, all the way through until they get their 18th or 21st present, then they might decide to get engaged and then they get married and have children themselves.
I've seen so many people right the way through all of this."
He has gemmology, jewellery, and retail qualifications from the UK and Switzerland.
He began his career when he was a teenager, working at the weekend, and says he can't imagine doing anything else:
"Guernsey is a small community, which is lovely and means we get to know people well.
And I think that is a good thing because we can then really help them.",,
