The States of Guernsey want local creatives to submit designs for a new series of banknotes, that will enter circulation in 2027.
The Treasury says the Bailiwicks' banknotes need to be modernised, as the island still uses paper and designs from the 1990s.
The £1, £5, £10, and £20 notes will be updated, and printed on polymer.
The £50 will also get a new look, but may not be produced, as it is rarely used.
Artists can register their interest and request a detailed creative brief by contacting: GuernseyBanknotes@gov.gg.
The submission deadline is 3 January 2025.
States Treasurer, Bethan Haines, says they want local talent to leave a mark on the island’s financial history.
"This is a unique opportunity for artists, designers and creative agencies to have their ideas for new banknotes become part of our cultural heritage in the years to come.
Our notes are still printed on paper, which is becoming much more difficult to source with the closure of paper mills, meaning we’ll need to move onto polymer."
The winning concepts will be handed over to the De La Rue design team at the start of 2025, and are expected to enter circulation in 2027.
