The director of an Emmy-nominated Nature documentary is coming to Guernsey to discuss threats facing marine ecosystems.
Director Toby Nolan will screen Ocean with David Attenborough at Beau Sejour on 1 November.
The 2025 documentary explores the importance of our oceans, the threats they face, and their potential for recovery.
After the screening, Toby will take part in a Q&A, followed by a slideshow showcasing Guernsey’s marine life, featuring photos by local photographer Tim Harvey.
The event has been organised by the Guernsey Nature Commission, La Société Guernesiaise and the Blue Marine Foundation.
Ecologist Charlotte Burgoine says it’s vital people understand the role our oceans play.
"This is all part of a big push to show off the importance of our marine environment.
"Having the chance to ask the producer and director questions, why they chose to film these things, it is going to be an incredible opportunity and the film itself is going to be incredible.
"The States are working on a project called the Marine Spatial Plan, looking at how we use our marine environment and how we might want to protect it going forward.
"And there'll be an opportunity for the public to consult on these plans.
"So we just want to be putting the importance of the marine environment out there and just promoting this piece of work as we really want people to be able to comment on it and have their say."
