A planning application has been submitted to improve La Vallette slipway by the Children's Pool, following the damage caused by Storm Goretti.
In addition to repair work, the remaining end of the slipway will be taken out and new granite steps will be built down to beach level, to make it safer to get between the beach and walkway.
Marco Tersigni, Infrastructure Officer for the Committee for the Environment and Infrastructure, said:
"While these works are needed following the damage from Storm Goretti earlier this year, the proposed new steps will create a safer and more convenient route between the promenade and the beach.
"Guernsey's coast is always vulnerable to damage from the sea, and so it’s important for us to remain proactive in maintaining and enhancing our island’s coastal defence."
