Deputy John Gollop will ask the Environment Committee about the ability of Stagecoach to deliver reliable services.
Changes to the bus route network took place in early September, following consultation.
Stagecoach promised extensions to the night buses, more frequency on busier routes and the ending of some under-used services.
Within days of its implementation, Island FM began to hear complaints from users about reliability.
Last week, we were told by a taxi driver that their firm was getting multiple calls from bus users who were stuck at stops because their bus had not arrived.
We put this to the Environment and Infrastructure Committee and their head of on island travel, Laura Oxburgh:
“As part of the contract we continue to monitor performance via monthly reports we receive, which are developed upon the key requirements and KPIs within the contract.
"Upon receiving the monthly report, consideration is given as to whether the service provider has met or exceeded the expected standard. If the acceptable standard has not been met, the reasons for this are explored and then consideration is given as to whether any penalties should be applied."
Deputy John Gollop's first question this morning (30 September) covers the above point. His second will ask the Environment Committee to ensure services are not cancelled at short notice and a third will question whether adequate engineering back up is available to keep the buses running.
Island FM also asked Environment why the night bus timetables were unavailable online and why some promised route extensions were quickly withdrawn. Laura Oxburgh told us:
“The proposed changes to the island’s night bus service have been implemented as per the proposals set out through the recent timetable change consultations.
"These services can be accessed on the buses.gg app by tapping the ‘Routes & Timetables’ button on the app’s main page and selecting a day the night bus service operates on."
In fact, to date, the night bus timetables are neither available on the website nor the bus app.
We have asked similar questions of Stagecoach but have yet to receive a reply.
