Record festive parcel delivery for Guernsey Post

Christmas parcel volumes are up 2% on last year at more than 700,000 individual items.

Guernsey Post's staff have been working extra hard in the run-up to Christmas.

Parcel deliveries up to 23 December had topped more than 700,000 individual items.

This is a steady 2% increase on the same period last year.

The busiest day was Tuesday, 16 December, when nearly 24,000 parcels were delivered.

The company says services such as myUKaddress and Primark ordering have been particularly popular.

These are ordering facilities that allows people to buy products not ordinarily delivered to the islands.

Relatively calm weather in the past few weeks has meant no hitches with getting the goods into Guernsey.

CEO Steve Sheridan says staff have pulled together:

"A huge thank you to our Posties, Post Office teams, Customer Services and all our behind-the-scenes colleagues who worked tirelessly to make this Christmas a success.

"I also want to recognise the fantastic support from our logistics partners – Brittany Ferries, Woodside and Ferryspeed - who played a vital role in keeping parcels moving during this peak period.”

The Post Office HQ at Envoy House closes at midday today, 24 December.
