Work is underway to clear loose stones overhanging the steps at Petit Port and similar work will be carried out at Moulin Huet.
Moulin Huet is a popular south coast beach and is synonymous with Renoir, whose paintings of bathers and the rocks beyond are world famous.
But like many south coast bays, the cliff face is prone to small rock falls, especially after a winter as wet as the one we have experienced.
To avoid loose debris falling onto beach goers, staff from States Works will use ropes to access the cliff face and hand tools to clear any stones that looks loose and may fall.
This will happen on Friday 3 May and there'll be no access to the bay from the eastern steps. People should avoid this area but can access it from the western steps or the sea.
Extensive work has taken place to re-route and make safe the steps at nearby Petit Port. Over the coming ten days loose debris on the rock face will also be removed, again using ropes for access and safety. This is expected to finish by 10 May.
