Ukrainian mothers have received hand-crafted items from Guernsey volunteers.
Ahead of The Newborn Baby Hats Appeal's 2nd anniversary on 9 March, the organisation has received a letter from one of its cooperation partners in Ukraine, "280 Days”.
The Ukrainian charity's Development Director, Yulia Rid-chenko, sent photos of the 90 boxes from Guernsey that they then sent to pregnant women living near the front line. The handcrafted clothes and blankets help mothers and babies stay warm.
She thanked the volunteers for their dedication:
"All the boxes contained lovely items from Guernsey.
There are still families living very close to the border, even though they are under constant shelling; they just want to carry on with their everyday life, but it’s really tough.
So yes, we at 280 Days are trying to help - and we thank everyone at Newborn Baby Hats Appeal so much for your contributions.”
Appeal Founder Lilita Kruze says her team will continue to support the Ukrainian people.
