Coronavirus: Spain Upgraded To Amber

People who come to Jersey after being in mainland Spain during the last fortnight have to isolate for at least five days.

That region has been upgraded from green to amber on the Jersey government's traffic light system based on risk of coronavirus transmission.

Incoming passengers from that region who've returned in the last fortnight have to be tested on arrival and five days after arrival. They can exit isolation when both tests are negative.

The announcement comes hours after the UK government confirmed that Britons coming to the UK from Spain, the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands now have to isolate for 14 days from midnight tonight.

Unlike the UK, people coming to Jersey from the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands don't have to isolate. Those islands stay green on the Jersey traffic light system.

There has been a spike in infections in Spain recently. 922 were logged on Friday with officials tracking more than 280 active outbreaks across the country.

On Friday, Spain logged 922 infections, slightly down from 971 the day before, but officials are tracking more than 280 active outbreaks across the country.
