'A Priority' To Help Homeless Gymnastics Club

The new Sport Minister says finding a new home for the Jersey Special Gymnastics Club is 'very much on the agenda.'

The club has been forced to leave the sports hall at Greenfields after 14 years and move all of its equipment into storage.

That is because the Jersey Care Commission said the hall should only be used by the young people at the secure home.

Deputy Lucy Stephenson insists it's on the government's to-do list.

"I know that Ministers are talking about it, I know that Jersey Sport has been working really hard on it as well, it is definitely a priority.

It's a frustration that we haven't found somewhere for them already and that they are in the situation that they are with not very much notice at all, that isn't great that we've got into that situation, but I can assure you it's very much on the do list and it is a priority."

The club's head coach has told Channel 103 that they're very much in limbo about what is going to happen come September, when training is due to resume.

Deputy Stephenson says she spoke to the club last week to try and find a suitable solution.
